Hello, this is SQUID. Today, I am presenting a guide to talk you through Pillar of Taint F0 to F60.

This guide will be split into 3 parts.
1) An introduction to the rules, rewards, and stages of the Pillar of Trial.
2) An introduction to lineup-building strategies and some recommended characters and lineups.
3) An analysis of combat positioning and boss fight gameplay strategies.
4) Lastly, a summary of this guide.

I. The Rules, Rewards, and Stages

1. Rules

There are 5 things to keep in mind here:

① You must meet certain requirements before you can play Pillar of Trial.
② Pillar of Trial offers 3 Elemental combos—Ice & Radiance, Fire & Necrosis, and Poison & Lightning. Only heroes associated with the same Elements can play this game mode. For example, Poison and Lightning heroes can only play Pillar of Taint.
③ Playing Pillar of Trial doesn't cost Stamina.
④ You can replay Pillar of Trial as many times as you'd like, but the rewards of each tier are available one time only.
⑤ You can claim duplicate rewards from the same floor of different Pillars of Trial. A higher floor yields better rewards.

2. Rewards

Each floor in Pillars of Trial yields rewards after you complete it. The rewards come in various types. Usually, they are hero growth materials, such as EXP, Artifact enhancement materials, and gear crafting materials. For every 30 floors completed, the player receives a Heliote Dice.
When you have completed 60 floors in Pillars of Trial, you'll receive the Epic hero, Kyrza.

When you have completed 180 floors in Pillars of Trial, you'll receive a Legendary Artifact.

3. Stages
There are 3 types of Pillars of Trial, each with 6 boss fights and 54 minion stages. Each minion stage is divided into 3 sessions, each session having 4 to 5 minions. Generally, these 3 sessions will have 5+4+5 or 5+5+5 minions. As for the boss fights, they happen on F10, F20, F30, F40, F50, and F60. The boss fights are the main focus of this article. Here are the skills of those bosses and their summoned units.

Boss:
① Whenever a boss takes damage, there is a 15% chance to inflict a stack of Poison debuff on the attacker.
② Upon dealing Poison damage to enemies in the attack range, there is a 100% chance to inflict 5 stacks of Poison debuff on the victim.
③ Deals Poison damage to all your heroes and triggers Toxic Blast, which detonates all the Poison debuff stacks inflicted on your allies to deal massive damage.
④ Becomes immune to all control effects.

Poison Element:
Deals Poison damage to enemies and resets the duration of the Poison debuffs. Also, spreads the Poison debuffs on enemies to nearby allies.

II. Recommended Lineups and Builds
Based on the information mentioned above, we'll break down the monsters and boss skills in Pillars of Trial. Also, we'll talk about how we can configure our lineups according to the stage difficulties. It is best that our lineups have these few things below:
① Support or defensive heroes that have great survivability, which means heroes who can grant Shield to all allies, increase their DEF, or heal them.
② Heroes who can deal massive AoE damage. As you climb to higher floors, the difficulty rises. The longer a battle lasts, the more likely your heroes will die, so try to deploy heroes who can deal massive AoE damage to handle minion stages. This way, you can finish battles a lot faster.
③ Heroes that can inflict control effects on multiple enemies. Similarly, while in a minion stage, if you have a back-row hero who can inflict AoE control effects, the front-row DPS heroes will have a much better chance of surviving and sticking on the battlefield.
④ Deploy back-row supports or front-row tanks that can dispel debuffs because the enemies will frequently inflict debuffs such as Stun, Displacement, and Control on your heroes. All heroes with the ability to dispel debuffs can effectively handle any unexpected situation on the battlefield, preventing your heroes from dying.
⑤ Most enemies can inflict Poison or Electrocution. If your heroes have enough Resistance (at 250, to be ideal), you can neutralize about 40% of the incoming damage.

Considering the characteristics and strength of the Poison and Lightning heroes, here are the support and tank characters I recommend:

1. Poison:

2. Lightning:

You must always have a main DPS on the team and a secondary DPS to enable the main DPS. Otherwise, the battle can be protracted, which can prove disadvantageous for you, so make sure to have enough DPS heroes on your team. Here are the Poison and Lightning DPS heroes I recommend:

Poison:

On higher floors, having 2 Poison DPS heroes will suffice because you need to reserve one more spot for a tank or support. If your heroes are having trouble surviving, and your heroes don't have enough Resistance, they can easily get picked off by the enemies' Poison burst damage. The 2 Poison DPS heroes must work together, one stacking the Poison debuffs and the other detonating those Poison damage ticks to boost the damage-dealing efficiency.

3. Lightning:

Perkunte is pretty much the only main DPS for any Thunderbolt build, and others are there to enable him. If you have Perkunte on the battlefield, once the other Thunderbolt DPS heroes have enough Accuracy, you can focus on stacking defensive attributes such as DEF and HP.

III. Minion Fight Positioning and Boss Fight Strategies

1. Minion Fight
Under normal circumstances, your lineup should include a tank, three DPS heroes, and a support, but it's a different story in Pillar of Taint as your team will face a greater challenge in terms of survival. So, I recommend you deploy two tanks, two DPS heroes, and a support. Alternatively, you can have only one tank but 2 DPS heroes and 2 supports to ensure the team's overall survivability. This is especially true for floors after F40 where the back-row enemies start dealing massive damage, and that's when you need multiple heroes with great defensive abilities to help your back-row heroes survive.

Here's the positioning:

1 Tank, 2 DPS, 2 Supports

2 Tanks, 2 DPS, 1 Support

It's best if you scatter the positions of your heroes, and try not to use too many melee heroes (up to 2 of them). This is mainly because you will have to tackle the following characters' skills:

2. Boss Fight:

You can put the 2 back-row DPS heroes on the same side to kill one of the Poison Elements and provide more breathing room for other heroes to survive. As long as you can deal enough AoE damage, you should be able to take out both Poison Elements before the boss's HP drops to half. The boss's 3rd skill is a great threat, so you can manually use your support or tank's ultimate skill right before the boss uses its 3rd skill. This will provide DEF and Shield to help neutralize part of the incoming damage.

IV. Summary

Pillar of Taint is more difficult than Pillar of Light and Pillar of Dark. The tricky part is how your heroes can survive. Considering you have 5 minutes to finish the fight, you'll almost always have enough damage, but the problem is when enemies keep stacking the Poison debuff, whether you have tanks or DPS heroes on the front row, you can lose some of them. Though Frurbath has excellent AoE healing, he is a front-row tank whose healing is limited in range. But if you put everyone on the front row, the enemy back-row DPS can more easily deal a fatal blow to your team. The way I see it, this is a trap meticulously set up by the game developers.

However, looking at this from another perspective, considering that we have sacrificed offensive attributes for every hero to have enough Resistance, we can remove a tank or support to free up a character slot so you can have 3 DPS heroes on the battlefield, making up for the missing DPS due to the lack of offensive attributes.

If we compare Thunderbolt with Poison, a Thunderbolt build can do more with less because while a Thunderbolt build has to stack debuffs first before it can dish out massive damage, its direct damage output is clearly higher and can cover a wider range. The downside is that the overall cost of creating this build is also more demanding as Perkunte is an indispensable character who takes up 70% of the team's overall damage output.

As for the Team Auras, I recommend you use defensive Auras, such as Auras that can boost HP or DEF for multiple allies.
That's about this for this journey. I will be bringing you more guides on Dragonheir, so stay tuned!
